“On–off” switch for H <sub>2</sub> and O <sub>2</sub> generation from HCOOH <i>resp</i> . H <sub>2</sub> O <sub>2</sub>

In spite of the numerous advances in development H2 and O2 evolutions upon water splitting, separation from still remains a severe challenge. Herein, novel dual-functional nanocatalysts Pd/carbon nanosphere (CNS), obtained via immobilization ultrafine Pd nanoparticles onto CNS, are developed employed for both selective generation HCOOH dehydrogenation evolution H2O2 decomposition. these reactions, highest activities Pd/CNS-800 (i.e., calcinated at 800°C) 2478 h?1 993 min?1 evolution, respectively. The highly efficient “on–off” switch is successfully realized by pH adjustment. This nanocatalyst not only provides new approaches promising application as economic safe carriers, respectively, fuel cells, but also promotes “on-off” on-demand evolution.
